The Capsule photography residence space in Le Bourget is perfectly aligned with the theme at Biennale Némo once again this year. Decentralized Autonomous Organizations, or DAOs, are Internet communities formed around common interests, which range from hobbies to financial investments.
Chu-Yin Chen considers the future of technological know-how and talent through the lens of artificial memory and collective intelligence. In this augmented-reality installation, she focuses on the creators of semi-conductors – core components of the digital revolution and the development of artificial intelligence. Visitors enter into a motherboard and plug into its creators and to the media discourse around the innovations, discovering the technological underpinnings of these ultra-advanced storage systems.
For Daphné Le Sergent, the photorealistic images generated by artificial intelligence constitute a parallel reality. A mountainous landscape and a topograph provide a viewpoint for understanding these images caught in the grip of one-track thinking and economic growth. It is presented alongside video work in which AI models its own memory. We discover a fictive civilization from the past, a retrofuturistic DAO with a striking resemblance to the Mayan world, mirrored with questions about the ecological implications of our photorealistic images.
