Maison des Arts de Créteil (MAC) is presenting two performances at Biennale Némo which take the form of metaphysical quests – near-mystical, sensory experiences at the intersection of the performing arts, technology and myriad sounds. Who better to start off than Franck Vigroux, who invites us to get lost deep within ourselves.
Franck Vigroux, an associate artist at MAC and a mainstay at Biennale Némo, is a shape-shifting explorer who defies set styles in his evolving fusion of contemporary and electronic music, dance and video. He is back this year with Chutes, a performance in which three characters embark the audience on a mysterious voyage of discovery into a world of science fiction.
Chutes explores a lunar, almost supernatural landscape that lies between an archaic world and a dystopian future. The sound and lighting hold us in thrall as we explore the synesthetic* dimension of music in a performance could be termed an “electronic opera.”
*Synesthesia: a perceptual disturbance in which an additional sensation is felt in a different area of the body than where it is normally felt, such as hearing light or seeing sound.
