The late human race?

■ Nina Garcia : Mariachi

Can one be more human than Nina Garcia and her solo Mariachi that will symbolically be the first act of Némo 2019/2020? With her guitar, a pedal and an amplifier, the young artist embodies existential burning, sonic calligraphy and free emotion. Mariachi is the ebullient combination of the body, the soul and sound.

Nina Garcia is a SHAPE artist, a platform for innovative music and audiovisual art from Europe, with the support of the Europe Creative Programme of the European Union.

■ Freeka Tet : Uncanny Valley

Openly flirting with the boundaries between humanity and the machine, the bright young Frenchman Freeka Tet, with his performance Uncanny Valley, places us in the Valley of the strange, the sensation that each of us has when faced with a very humanoid robot.

But it is the artist’s own face, glitched, distorted, made monstrous, that is his main instrument. And that in turn modifies and transforms its music, in our opinion in a manner that has never before been seen or heard!

■ Alexis Langevin-Tetrault and Pierre-Luc Lecours : DATANOISE

Even closer to the fusion or the battle with machines, the artists from Montreal Alexis Langevin-Tetrault and Pierre-Luc Lecours invent an abrupt world of DATANOISE. With a multitude of hand-made instruments, vaguely reminding us of strings or percussions from the future, they alternate between moments of contemplation and amazing audio and visual deflagrations.

■ Jean-Benoît Dunckel (with the Quatuor Thyeste): H+

Finally, we are delighted to present the show by Jean-Benoit Dunckel, who has made a short getaway from Air and is accompanied for the first time live by the Quatuor Thyeste, exploring in its latest album H+ its own interrogations on what the human race will become, augmented, post-human, transhuman, etc. Jean-Benoit’s colourful and loving world, resolutely optimistic world, will end this evening with sweet beauty, with four eclectic artistic proposals that announce the question asked by the Biennial: The late human race? while also prefiguring of course a thousand ways of answering it.
