Spring Odyssey VR (virtual reality experience) is a sensory experience that intertwines art, science, technology and philosophy in a space that blends real and virtual, giving you the chance to stroke and dance with a plant exposed to radioactivity: the M plant.
Wednesday 1st December – 6:00-9:00pm : exhibition opening
Saturday 4 December – 5:00-6:00pm : lecture on the Spring Odyssey VR project from its genesis to the present day.
With: Elise Morin and Jacqui Shykoff, Director of Research CNRS / Laboratoire Génétique et Écologie Évolutives Université Paris-Saclay
Sunday 5 December – 5pm : Spring Odyssey VR
This mutant plant is a sort of natural Geiger counter that makes invisible radiation visible. The project came about through a collaboration between artist Élise Morin and biologist Jacqui Shykoff, who took a trip to the Red Forest, a kilometre from the Chernobyl nuclear plant. In Spring Odyssey VR, the plant becomes a real and virtual interface for discovering the intricacies of the Red Forest, a veritable open-air laboratory, allowing you to become one with the forest and attempt to grasp radioactivity.
